Not everything written about education can be positive, but there are some silver linings here if you have an eye for them.
The three teachers I talked to are all leaving their Dallas ISD campus for other opportunities.
One of the teachers is moving to another campus, one is moving to another district, and the last is moving out of education all together. There's an interesting difference in perspectives here. All attended public school during their academic career, but finished on different types of campuses. One magnet, one traditional public school, and one private.
We talk through the reasons why each is making a change, what makes a good leader, and, most importantly, why they all loved teaching Dallas ISD students.
Depending on if you're a glass half full or half empty person, this will either make you sad or that much more excited to keep working to improve the district. You have to take the good with the bad. They both exist. We don't pretend here.
The interview is from the beginning of Summer '16.
