Hall of Fame debate coach Dan Lingel talks about the long and short term benefits of debate for students.
Dan Lingel is the head coach of the Jesuit College Prep debate team, also known as Dallas Jesuit. He is also a counselor and classroom teacher with nearly 40 years of experience. In recognition of his impact on the Speech and Debate community, he has been inducted to the Texas Forensics Association Hall of Fame and was named the National Debate Coaches Association Educator of the Year.
This was a special interview for me that I have been looking forward to for a while. Dan is a big part of my life and development because he was my debate coach, counselor, and teacher in high school. I'm a bit biased having being brought up by him, so his message about the benefits of debate are very much preaching to the choir here. That said, its rare to find someone that has dedicated their entire life to their craft and continues to improve both themselves and others on a daily basis.
I learned quite a bit from sitting down with him and I look forward to him coming back on the show.
Enjoy!
