Voting is very personal. The decision to support one candidate over another is very complex and is based on a number of factors both personal and practical. This parent voted against Dustin Marshall multiple times in the past but decided this time to cast her vote for Marshall during the runoff election. Listen to why.
Katy Richardson is a Stonewall parent, a Democrat, a Kingston supporter, a former Lori supporter, and now, a Dustin Marshall voter.
She explains how she arrived at her decision from about 4:15 to 13:50. If you have even five minutes in your day, give it a listen.
A few quotes that stuck with me are below. Don't forget to vote on June 10th!
"I am happy that he himself is personally involved when somebody has a specific issue or complaint."
"I don't feel like criticizing someone else is really a platform. I want to know what you are going to do. If you think someone is doing something wrong, what would you do differently? I didn't hear a lot of other solutions being offered so that rang a little bit of an alarm bell for me."
"It is becoming more clear to me that the folks that are actually hands on volunteering or have students in a DISD school, those are the ones who are supporting Dustin. And people whose children are past school age and maybe are not as involved in neighborhood schools...are more supporting Lori Kirkpatrick, and to me that is a little telling."
