What is it like to be an undocumented student in the United States? I asked my best friend and college roommate who is still struggling through the immigration system.
He was gracious enough to talk about his confusion, shame and fear growing up as an undocumented immigrant. He also discusses the challenges of learning how to speak English and formal Spanish, the college admissions process, and relating to his peers. I learned a lot more about a person I've spent the vast majority of my formative years. He doesn't speak for every undocumented immigrant, Latino, or anyone else, but I think there's something everyone can learn from listening to his story.
