I was much more active over the holiday season than I usually am, which may explain part of it. The other part is that I was much more reflective. Overall I think it will and is good for my students that I'm a little more tired than usual. How? Let me explain.
The two extra hours of dedicated work time is absolutely paying off for my students. I'm better planned, more prepared, and because of that I can give better instructions and expectations. Independent practice is more independent. Student work is of a higher quality. It's all around better in my classroom.
Now we have to work on sustainability. If I can keep this going, I'll be one happy teacher. If not, well, I'll end up bitter and frustrated. Here's to not letting that happen.
