The All-Star Project puts on talent shows and other programs that engage our parents and students on their artistic side. People in communities across Dallas have enjoyed their shows and excited our students who sometimes are more reserved and less engaged in the classroom. We need more groups like this getting our students excited about something, anything, and waking up that drive to participate. More importantly, it gets our parents involved. Parents will show up to support their students in performances. Nobody wants to hear negative stuff about their kids, but they do want to see them thrive. How can we make these partnerships more successful? Inviting our community partners in, not keeping them out.

Today I invited some visitors into my classroom. Every day my kids see me and hear my perspective on the way the world does and should work; however, it's important that our kids also know that we are not and Island, we are not isolated from the community where our school exists. I decided to take a little time our of our day so my kids could learn about a group putting on exciting programs for our kids.
