Summer is nearly finished. You can tell by how busy this week is already. DISD teachers are reporting back to school on Thursday, but many teachers across Dallas are already back in PD, instructional coaches and department heads are back at school planning, students at Uplift and other charters are already back in school, and others are getting their uniforms and supplies ready. What's left to do this summer? A few things:
TODAY: Stand for Children is putting on an Educator Advocacy Summit. We've been invited to participate in the afternoon panel. Thanks! It's being held from 11am-3:45pm at the Frontiers of Flight Museum (6911 Lemmon Avenue, Dallas, TX 75209). There's a community resources fair immediately after.
TOMORROW: We're hosting our Welcome Back to School event for Dallas education folk from 3:30 to 6:30pm at Brain Dead Brewing on Wednesday, August 12th.. First 20 people will get a beverage on us, and some appetizers will be provided for snacking and conversation. It's in Deep Ellum and there's plenty of parking near by. Metered parking is free until 6.
Thursday: Staff Development starts for DISD.
Welcome back teachers. We appreciate you (also ourselves because we're teachers).
