Why does Teach for America get 2 weeks in a row of the Dallas Education Podcast? Because TFA isn't going anywhere, and the organization is providing a good number of much needed new teachers to Dallas area classrooms. May as well hear the TFA side of things. If you don't like it, you've been invited to say why on the show, comment section, etc. Open and eternal invitation. We like to talk to everyone. Yes, that means you. Why do we scour the internet for education stuff every week? So you don't have to. Here's what you missed. SAGA Pod w/ Eric Celeste & Jim Schutze was my gym/ride to work podcast today, and though I'm admittedly a little behind since this came out on the 14th, their breakdown of groups and their relationship to education was thorough and provocative. I like their format and it's clear both of them have done their homework. Not only do they have some numbers, but they sound like they've talked to real people with skin in the game. K-12 Greatest Hits is great for instructional ideas. Just yesterday I was thinking through and complaining about not being able to grade papers fast enough. The episode from yesterday was about just that. The teacher on the show was talking about how she's flipped the editing process by implementing a peer editing system. Check it out. I won't be doing it this go around, but it's something I'm going to look into going forward. |
