Some adults never grow out of this. That's to say they never evolve to the point where they are able to created an ordering of preferences. They can't create a hierarchy of needs or wants. These people live, not going forward, but spinning in place or moving backward. Whether you run your business or live your life this way, it is a recipe for disaster. You can't do or choose everything. If you look at a menu and can't pick which item you want most, ordering 4 things isn't an option that comes without consequence.
This is something that has serious implications in the classroom. In a given day, you may want to do several different activities but you have a limited amount of time. You could choose to do a different lesson every period but then you're teaching your kids different things and erasing your personal time planning all of those lessons. You can't answer every question or you'll never get through class. You can't teach every TEK while also covering, in depth, each one of them. Refusing to do this hurts your kids and it hurts you.
I know it's hard, but you are the adult. You have to choose. Be a grown up.
