Still undecided? Don’t worry! We have 2 brand new interviews with each of our candidates as well as the other elections coverage from before the May 7th election.
Why does it matter? First, all of this is speculative and everyone, for better or for worse, gets labeled as being for or against changes to the public education system. If you buy into that stuff, then the board balance has shifted toward a makeup that is more against changing the system and trying new things than it was in the past.
This seat, in particular, was vacated by Mike Morath, who was strongly in favor of making changes to Dallas ISD. Dustin Marshall tends to be put in the pro change camp and Mita Havlick tends to be put in the camp that wants to prevent many of those changes.
Is it much more complicated than that? Absolutely. Are those labels incorrect? Entirely possible. You decide. They both called in to share their side of the story on two separate occasions and got together in the same room with the other candidates to debate the issues in District 2. Give it a listen.
Early Vote goes from today through June 14th, and Election Day is June 18th.
