This is an extreme example considering adults and students felt the exact opposite about this teacher, but it raises an interesting question about what is necessary for an "effective teacher."
This year, during the evaluations there were quite a few teachers passing out candy and smiles to their kids in an effort to brib them just in case they were randomly selected to evaluate that teacher. Will this work? Who knows. Is the system accurate? Maybe. Teachers that were happy last year said yes. Those that weren't said they got a bad draw.
Mine were great so I'm a believer! In general, I'm on board with student feedback. The big criticism from opponents of TEI and the student observation is that pay shouldn't rely on student subjectivity. Thoughts?
