That's a real fear of many of our students.
My first year on a Dallas ISD campus I saw several teachers leave by Christmas. A few quit because they hated the kids. One left at lunch and just never came back. The students laughed at the ones that would cry and would run off more subs in a semester than most campuses get in a year. Why? They were used to being abandoned and wanted to test everyone that came into their space to make sure they wouldn't leave.
"I'm tired of everyone always leaving me" is something one of my students would cry to me at least once a quarter. They are hard on people at first but never forget you after you stay. Talk to them. They'll tell you why they act the way they do.
