Dear Neighbors,
I live in Junius Heights. I'm an architectural designer, PhD candidate, educator, husband, and dad of a 2 1/2 year old boy and 1 year old girl. I'm a member of the Old East Dallas Early Childhood PTA associated with Lipscomb Elementary. I’m excited for my children to become Lipscomb Lions and the only Trustee I am comfortable entrusting their futures to is Trustee Dustin Marshall.
Before the runoff I had been swayed by the us (east dallas/public schoolers/democrat/local) versus them (north dallas/private schoolers/republican/big business) rhetoric. I believe Philip Kingston is good for our district and he recommended Dustin's opponent. Mita Havlick's and Jim Schutze's endorsements of Dustin encouraged me to look closer. Given additional time to reflect and understand both candidates in more detail, I am confident Dustin is the most qualified to represent our district and to address the issues pertinent to a school district the size of DISD. I am encouraged by Dustin’s consistent support for and innovation in education.
- Literacy tutoring for DISD schools with Reading Partners,
- Leadership Dallas class building STEM based “Maker Spaces” in four Dallas schools
- His personal investment in the Woodrow feeder pattern through his involvement in the Woodrow Wilson High School Community Foundation.
