I'm talking about random acts of kindness and appreciation from students and teachers. It's amazing when a partially wrapped, broken candy cane from a student can do for your mental health.
This morning some parents got together and made the teachers some homemade breakfast. Almost brought a tear to my eye. Here's the thing, it's the thought that counts. It was delicious. Even if it was terrible, it would have still made my day. School leadership could take a page out of this book. Make some coffee and donuts available. It doesn't have to be Starbucks. Brew a pot of Folgers where you don't put enough coffee in and it's basically just hot water. Get 40 donut holes even though you have 70+ employees. It's ok. We'll be happy knowing it was there.
Good luck this week. DISD starts ACPs tomorrow. Some other schools are starting today. Either way, we're almost there.
Special prayer for our DISD readers: I pray that you don't get a spot observation today.
