One of the big moves I made was starting to go to therapy. Go is a word I use loosely because I did it through Talk Space. Which let's me seek help on my own terms wherever I am.
Then next thing was to start going back to the podcasts and shows that I watched but wasn't ready to laugh at the first time. I get it. There's been a lot of very heavy and disturbing things happening in our world. If police and race politics do it for you, maybe it's the election cycle. Maybe it's terrorism and international security. Perhaps you are having personal issues or have recently lost a loved one. You could even be one of those sports enthusiasts that are hurting from the summer lull in sports.
Whatever your reason, find something that makes you laugh.
The Your Mom's House Podcast is extremely silly and makes me laugh harder than almost anything else. The female half of this married pair of comedians, Christina Pazsitzky, has her own podcast called That's Deep Bro which deals with philosophy and pretty heavy topics but with a light-hearted comedy spin.
Dwayne Perkins has a new comedy special on Netflix that's worth a look.
Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates came out Friday and was pretty funny.
Whatever it is, find humor again. Don't let misery and fear become your forever.
