I was tired because I couldn't sleep the night before. Maybe I was just excited. It's possible I was nervous. Most likely, it was a combination of both. There's something fun about meeting a new class. The potential of what both of you can do together is unlimited. You have your class guidelines and you feel prepared, but part of you is afraid that you'll do something wrong on the first day that will ruin the rest of the year. I think back to my first year teaching where something that happened on Day 1 ruined my relationship with one of my students for the next three years. We never has a positive interaction after that.
Yesterday wasn't like that though. I think my students are having fun. Today will be even more student centered than the last.
