I live with 4 other current/past DISD teachers. When it's been a long week, you can feel it in the house. The animals start acting weird, everyone stops talking to each other, and the place gets much dirtier than usual.
As we were all packing our lunches this morning, I asked one of them why they looked so down and the conversation went as follows:
Roommate: I got written up yesterday.
Me: Why?
Roommate: My principal gave me a reminder to submit some attendance I missed and my write up at the same time.
Me: I don't understand.
Roommate: I got the reminder that said to correct my attendance by Wednesday, but yesterday was Thursday so they gave me the write up at the same time.
Me: So you got the first reminder the day after it was already due, then were punished at the same time?
Roommate: Yep.
OK, so I understand the "just submit your attendance and you won't have that problem" argument, but if you're making that argument, clearly you're not working hard enough. Everyone, one day, forgets to take attendance in at least one class period. Have a heart and some common sense one time for me.
This week needed to end for so many reasons. It was exciting, but that's not always a good thing.
