That's not something you ever expect to hear, especially when you're a high school teacher. Last spring, that's exactly what one of my students yelled upon returning from the bathroom.
It was true. A student had taken their own excrement and rubbed it all over the wall of the 2nd floor bathroom. Disgusting.
That's not the shocking part. I immediately contacted the custodians and asked them about this kind of behavior. The shocking thing is that they weren't shocked. Apparently, a few weeks prior, a girl had done the same thing and written that she hated the school in her own excrement in a different 2nd floor bathroom.
This is such a common occurance, that the school has a special wall washing machine that cleans poop off the walls. The things you don't know unless you're a teacher. We're truth tellers here folks. Sometimes when you teach high school students, they rub poop on the walls. FACT. Absolutely the worst moment of my 2015 as a Dallas educator. Yes, there are pictures. If you know me in real life, I'd be happy to share with you if I can track them down.
Happy New Year!
