Every year teachers get more and different responsibilities that complicate what everyone things is the only job of a teacher: teaching. Whether you became a department chair, club moderator, coach, or something else, many of you have found yourselves with new responsibilities. That's fancy for saying you have even less personal time. So how do we maintain that mythical work/life balance that keeps us mentally healthy enough to effectively teach our kids?
I don't have an answer.
Therapy helps (shout out to Talk Space), but maintaining balance and boundaries is difficult. Everyone is trying to figure out how to gel together again and that can be a frustrating process. Still, keeping your eye on the prize helps. Let something go or take a step back if you need to. The kids come first and sometimes that means putting yourself first once in a while.
Good luck. Stay happy.
