School discipline disproportionately affects Black children. Try as some people might, you can't use the "Black kids just misbehave more" argument. i don't need Yale and their eye tracking technology to tell me that teachers are hyper-aware of what their Black children are doing in their classrooms.
Bottom line, suspension on it's own doesn't do anything except give teachers a short break from the student they are tired of and put the student further behind which leads to more acting out, forcing more suspensions. It's not a tool, it's a white flag. Let's stop giving up on our kids and start talking to them.
