The impact of enjoying your job on your general rest level can't be understated. Taking care of your mental health is so important. That seems like an understatement, but we all have a tendency to burn the candle at both ends and explain it to people as "doing it for the kids." That approach leads you to blame your students for your exhaustion which leads to resentment. You don't want to be there. I've been there, and I'm glad I'm not anymore.
Part of the solution was being more prepared. I'm more completely planned and prepared than I ever have been. That has allowed me to carve out more time for myself and stick to a schedule. Routine has been a blessing. I feel it when I get out of it, but just like a classroom, life is much less frustrating when you have a plan.
