I turned to see a car window rolling down where a woman was yelling my teacher name. I did not recognize this woman at first, but it was the mother of one of my students. The student then jumped out of the car and asked me to re-cross the street to chat. Sure, child and his mother, I'll delay my coffee to see what exactly is going on.
They just got back from vacation and began to tell me all the interesting history related things they saw. Both mother and son began to relate things they saw back to things he learned in my class. I left full of love for the profession.
These are the positive moments that make it all worth it. They don't happen all the time, but I think this one will hold me for another year.
