Was this year’s in-service different than the last? Probably not. Most likely, I’m noticing because I’m sitting next to my principal and am paying more attention than I usually do.
My life as a distracted student is well document, but I’m grown now. Why do I need an older adult in close proximity to pay more attention? Short answer, I don’t. I can and should be better just because it is the right and respectful thing to do.
The funny thing is that it’snot like the principal is a statue. He likes to comment on things just like I do and paying attention allow some to do that and grow in my relationship with my administrators. That’s just a good thing.
Because I payed attention, I now know who all the buss drivers are, where to find important information on line, new protocols for getting subs and logging absences, and a whole host of other things I would have missed if I made my regularly scheduled Monday morning comic book time my focus this morning.
