Today is one of those days for me.
I'm taking that advice and putting my own spin on it. A few weeks ago I extended an invitation to another faculty member to teach a guest lecture on a subject that he is particularly passionate about. It works well because he's more knowledgeable on the subject than I am and I'm not near as excited as he is. That's good for my students.
Rather than sneaking off for a toilet nap* like I've done at previous corporate jobs I've held, I have the opportunity to play student and learn something while giving my teacher muscles a rest. It's a win-win for all of us.
*For those of you who've never held a cubicle job or worked in corporate America, a toilet nap is exactly what it sounds like. It's when you pretend you're going to the bathroom but really are just sitting in a stall and sleeping. Yes, it happens.
