Jaha and crew are still boring me to death. Get them out of my show.
Clarke has been trapped and brought to Lexa. This might become interesting, and seeing Clarke resist the man we would eventually learn is Captain Charles Vane, I mean Ice Nation Prince Roan, was pretty enjoyable. Is the truce broken broken? Will there be all out war? I sure hope so. The show is best when there's a huge existential crisis.
The decision to take Mt. Weather may prove to only make things worse for everyone. I predict that Abby will give up her position as chancellor and make Mt. Weather some kind of hospital fortress that treats anyone and everyone that needs medical care. She's a better doctor than she is a leader. This may be the place that everyone unites around.
The star of the show this week was Jasper. He continues to lash out as he grieves for his lost love, what's her face. While I don't feel particularly strongly about her passing, I'm starting to believe that Jasper does which is really why she was even in the story in the first place.
Loss is hard. When someone dies it's like an entire universe dies with them. All the inside jokes, experiences, and connections that only the two of you shared are now gone. Monty is now going through that too having learned about the death of his father. The entire 2nd group of sky people are dealing with their grief by exacting revenge on grounders. This is and always be a show about loss to me. It is the theme that connects everything in the show across the seasons. Loss of loved ones, loss of culture, loss of territory, it all centers around losing something and then reacting.
This may be one of the best shows on TV, but it's also one of the best shows about life. I had a student that lost her father recently and there were times where she would burst into tears or fits of anger all because of her grief. She would write about how much she missed her dad whenever we did any kind of creative writing. Sometimes she'd even create alternate histories where her father was still alive. Heart breaking stuff. Watching The 100 let me take a step back and see her behavior as less crazy and more a part of her process of accepting and moving on.
I hope this week's episode will be just as strong.
