I feel like a teacher. Things are clicking. Kids are participating. In groups they are actually talking about the lesson and it feels good. How am I conserving a little more energy? Trusting my kids a bit more to teach themselves but also being much stricter in the beginning than I have been the past few years. Before this year I thought that "days in groups are days wasted," but thus far, that hasn't been the case. I started driving the learning more at the end of the year and that was effective, but it also involved strong discipline and management. Without support from my campus I took more into my hands like the veteran teachers around me advised me to do. It paid off then and it's paying double now.
