This weekend reminded me that there are over 50,000 people fighting along side with us. In the beginning of February it can be very hard to see, but this work is important. This work matters and we must keep perspective that this work will not change over night. We are fighting an institutional battle to achieve a One Day. One Day where all children regardless of income can have access to a high quality education.
To get there we cannot be complaisant about the problems and issues we see in our schools and communities. It can be easier to ignore the larger problems, focus on your classroom and get to June. Trust me i have felt this way this year. We will not make the same kind of gains doing this though. We need leaders in education that are willing to do what is right not easy, have urgency and know what they are doing. So if you did not spend your weekend screaming and chanting all in support of education as I did, let me remind you really quick today about the power you are doing and you are not alone. There are smart, dedicated, and passionate people working hard to change the trajectory of education. We need lots more of them, but we also need to just keep fighting for whats right for kids.
