Right before a break, with three days left in the year, I was reminded of the joy I feel when I see students learning. 100% of my students are attached to their computers working on the assignment. They get frustrated but then 2 minutes later celebrate when they figure out. I am literally watching the learning process take place. It is so much fun!! One student was about to give up and another encouraged them to keep going. Now they made it to the next challenge. One figured out a problem they were stuck on and shared how they did it with others. As I think about next semester I need to remind myself to include lessons like this in class more often. Learning is fun. I love learning. That joy when you figure something out or learn something new. That is why so many of us teach, to share that with our students. Challenging problems are fun. Pushing yourself fun. There is nothing like that feeling when you finally figure it out. The only thing that might be better is watching your students have that experience.

I teach a class that is STAAR tested not ACP tested. Their final was last week so this week during ACP it was up to me to decide what to do with them. Sure I could have given another exam just like an ACP. I also could have shown a movie since they took a major test last week. Instead I decided to use this time to remind them why learning can be fun. Their final is an online challenge that requires them to use the skills they learned in class to solve. They are so into it.
