While shocking, it wasn’t necessarily surprising. He got a recent contract restructuring, TEI got passed, he survived several attempts to fire him by a few board members, and still decided to leave.
His mark will be left on the district for years and whether that’s good or bad has been hotly contested. He was the lightning rod for hatred and blame for everyone dissatisfied with anything in DISD. The crazy thing is that after he left, none of that resentment went away.
People unhappy with DISD are still trying to find a new place to focus their anger, with some opting to stay angry with him and revive his ghost to yell at.
